Ian Allen Lim started to dwell in the world of film in mid 2005. He enrolled in a 4-week intensive workshop at the International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT). In which he shot his first short film The Coffee Shop. After he got back from Cebu, he immediately was hired to do a music video for the indie band Pinoy Stories. He was also hired to do a documentary for ABC 5, a co-production with Galorde enterprises. In 2006 he enrolled in the one-year immersion program of IAFT, in which he made the short One's Tear that became a finalist in the International College Peace Film Festival of Korea. He then continued to make several shorts having his thesis film, Manomission recognized and awarded with a "Technical Excellence Award" and a "Best Director Award" at IAFT. The short later on became an official selection of the Panorama of Independent Film and Video Makers Festival in Greece. As a Director of Photography he worked in the short Pagtuu (Faith) that was also an official selection for the Rotterdam Film Festival and Whisper in the Dark that was an official selection at a film festival in Greece. His short documentary Language Barrier struck discussions in Youtube questioning the official language of his home country in the Philippines. He also worked as a Production Manager and Senior Producer for Fashion TV Asia and later on became a Creative Director for the Makisig tv channel in Manila, Philippines. He has now a number of films under his belt, a combination of short films, commercials, music videos and documentaries. He is one of the co-founders of SINEgang collective, which was created in 2006 at IAFT, with the aim of reviving the Philippine cinema and creating a new breed of edgier filmmakers in Asia. He is currently living in Puerto Rico and aims to continue his career as a Director and Cinematographer to furthermore experience and develop his craft.
