Baltasar Kormákur’s White Night Wedding, Iceland’s entry for the 2009 Oscars, received the highest number of nominations (14) for the country’s top film and television awards, the Eddas. The most successful domestic film of the year is nominated in all top Edda categories, including Best Film, Director and Screenplay, and has already secured one award for Best Supporting Actor, with all four nominees part of the film’s cast. The second Edda favourite is Óskar Jónasson’s Reykjavik Rotterdam (ten nominations), for which Kormákur could win Best Actor. The Icelandic/Dutch co-production is currently number five in the local top ten. Both White Night Wedding and Reykjavik Rotterdam were produced by Kormákur’s company Blueeyes. Read Full Article |
